MidCarolina Barbell Club is Alamance County’s number one source for Olympic Weightlifting training and development. The Snatch and the Clean and Jerk, which are the primary Olympic lifts, are the most effective ways to develop the strength, power, flexibility, speed, and balance required to become the best athlete you can be. The coaches at MidCarolina Barbell Club have worked with athletes of all ages and backgrounds. We have trained athletes as young 10 years old, up to athletes in their 40’s from various athletic backgrounds including football, cheerleading, gymnastics, baseball, and many others. Our head coach, Coach Scott, is a level 2 Advanced Sports Performance Coach on the verge of being recognized as a National Coach with the USAW, the governing body of weightlifting in the United States. Coach Scott has almost 10 years coaching experience and was the former head coach of Training Valley Weightlifting Club, formerly Alamance Barbell Club.

Our primary goal is to introduce all individuals to the classic Olympic lifts in a manner that will promote each athletes’ development and growth in a positive way. With proper technique and form an individual will improve their strength, coordination, and overall athletic abilities at the same time. With proper programming, weightlifting is one of the most efficient ways for an athlete to develop their abilities in a short period of time. While squatting, pressing, pulling, and core strengthening is vital to becoming stronger; things like stability, mobility, and technique will develop an individual beyond what a generic strength regimen can provide them.
For most people, developing a program that is time conscious while also providing them with opportunities to reach their goals is almost unheard of. For this reason, the coaches at MidCarolina Barbell Club are here to do that for you. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned lifter, we provide a program that is developed for your needs. You will have step-by-step instructions on what to do and how to do it. You are not just another member here, you are an integral part of the club.
